The wide array of themes, colors, sizes and styles makes them ideal gifts for loved ones. This is truly a special art piece that is unique and reflective of the recipient's distinct style and taste.

Aside from being decorative, hand blown perfume bottles are functional as well. These elegant handcrafted bottles can of course be used as perfume dispensers. If you intend to use them as such, you have to make sure that you have a tightly sealed stopper to prevent the perfume from evaporating. There are some craftsmen that make their hand blown perfume bottles truly functional by outfitting them with stoppers, whereas for other bottles the stopper can be purchased separately.

Hand blown perfume bottles belong to an age-old tradition that dates back to the ancient Egyptian civilization. The art of making hand-crafted perfume bottles was started by skilled artisans of the old Egyptian empire, skilled craftsmen who are believed to be the original inventors of glassmaking.

These timeless masterpieces made in glass are made by blowing molten glass using a blowpipe. The molten glass takes its desired core shape with the introduction of pressurized air that is blown from the opposite end of the blowpipe. The hand blown glass takes its desired shape when it is cut with the use of the copper wheel and it is ground with the use of emery powder. Once the final shape of the hand blown glass is achieved, accents and embellishments are integrated into the final glass design through physical manipulation or pinching of the hot glass. Once done, the bottle is then transferred to the furnace where is it exposed to high temperature to allow the color of the hand blown perfume bottle to properly set. Then the bottle is allowed to cool down.

Present day hand blown perfume bottles go through the same old glassmaking process, the same way that has been done since ancient times. There are no modern tools added to those that were used by the early artisans.
